Swimming Pools
A long invigorating swim when it’s all still and quiet early in the morning, a few hours of tanning on a sun lounge with your feet in the water – a book and a favourite drink by your side. Maybe a little lunch on the pool deck… At our luxury hotel in down south Sri Lanka, you have two beautiful swimming pools to while away your hours. Time is your own. Towels, sunbeds and sun umbrellas are free, of course – please ask the pool attendant.
Points to note: Our pools are diligently attended to by lifeguards and pool attendants; however, we do request that you supervise your children closely. Swimwear is a must and taking alcohol while in the pool is not allowed for your own safety.

Right from the moment you take your first dip, It looks as if the edge of the pool simply merges with the waves of the ocean, making you feel that you are in the sea – and the beach in between is just a figment of your imagination.

As our guest, this is your own haven to rest at ease in private. Set in a secluded area of the hotel grounds this resident’s only pool is a shady haven with sweeping tree branches dipping into the water, adding to the serene, natural ambience. Feeling peckish after a long swim? The Wall Bar by the pool serves drinks and snacks throughout the day so you don’t have far to go either.

Children and Families
As with all our hotels, we are very happy to welcome families and children to Heritance Ahungalla. However, we request that you keep an eye out for your little ones and supervise them adequately – especially on the beach and at the pool.
If you want an extra bed in your room we can provide one for a small fee. We also provide free cots for babies, and highchairs at the Jute Restaurant and the Mustard Coffee Shop.
Need a break from parental duties? Why not book a babysitter – just ask at the reception.
We have special Children’s Menus – so ask for them at our restaurants if you want something special for your kids.

Got fitness targets to keep up? Our modern air-conditioned gym is fully equipped with free weights, treadmills and exercise machines to help you do so even during your holiday. Our animators are available at all times to advise and help you. The gym is free for hotel guests, so you can come by any time you feel guilty about those extra pounds.

To get a wonderful workout and to explore the surroundings there is no better way than getting on your bike. Discover quiet villages, lush cinnamon plantations, sail past green paddy fields, charming temples and little streamlets. Catch a glimpse of real life outside. We recommend a 15km circular route from the hotel which will take around two hours. The roads are fairly flat and once off the main Galle Road, there is not much traffic either.
Cost of bike hire is Rs. 250 per person, per hour. If you would like a guide, we can provide one for a fee too.
Whether you are a regular player missing the action while on holiday or would just like to swing a racket for fun, we have two tennis courts and a badminton court at the end of the north wing for your pleasure. Tennis courts – and equipment can be booked at a cost, but badminton is yours to play free of charge.
If you fancy a game of table tennis, we have a table set outdoors but under shelter at the end of the north wing – it’s free for all hotel residents.
How about a little lazy action on the green? Just ask our reception for the equipment and have a go – it is fee for hotel guests.
You will find a full sized Billiards table in our games room, and a pool table in the Apollo Bar – so, come take a cue.

Bored? Shake it off with some board games or a round of Carrom, Chess or Table Football – all available at the Apollo Bar – free of charge.
If you would love some action on the water, we will take you to nearby Bentota, where a wide variety of water sport from jet skis, banana boats to wind surfing and kayaking are available. Do ask at reception for more details.

Our rather extensive library of books and magazines were all donated by guests – so you have quite an eclectic choice in genre and language too. A Dickensian classic, or a French society magazine, perhaps a volume of Polish poetry – you might just find them here.
For the workaholics, we also have two computer terminals with high-speed broadband access so you can keep in touch with business too – anytime, as we are open 24 hours a day.

Options for shopping in Ahungalla, can be rather limited, so if you are looking for a little something for a loved one or a memento for you, our souvenir shop or Jewellery store will tempt you with some lovely choices.
From handloom bags and clothes, batik shirts, soft toys, woodcarvings, to woven baskets we have quite a few little trinkets and treasures for you to take home.

Glittering sapphires, rubies, topaz and moonstones and a host of semi-precious stones all set in white and yellow 18-carat gold as well as silver are sold at the Premadasa Jewellers outlet at Heritance Ahungalla. One of Sri Lanka’s trusted and reputed jewellers, all items sold are guaranteed with a certificate of authenticity. As a hotel guest, you are eligible for a discount too.
