Please note that in order for the domestic rates to be applicable the Sri Lankan Identity card or the local resident VISA should be produced upon check in at the hotel. In case of group bookings, please note that individual room guest will have to produce the above mentioned identification in order for domestic rates to be applicable.
Bird watching
At 6.30am the air is filled with birdsong – it’s one of the best times to spot some of the 233 resident species. Brahminy kites soar overhead while one of our resident naturalists, Piyasena (see below) or Nalinda , helps you distinguish the different calls.
While you’re looking at egrets and ibis in the water, a red-wattled lapwing may flap around trying to prevent you from finding its nest. You may be lucky enough to spot some rarer visitors, like the Sri Lanka grey hornbill or the white-rumped charmer.
When the lake is full you can also go on a birdwatching trip by boat to get closer to some of the water species.
