Sri Lanka is a paradise for birds, with 435 recorded species, including 233 resident species, of which 26 are endemic. These include Babblers, Barbets, Bulbuls, Parakeets, Woodpeckers, Raptors, Sunbirds, Flower Peckers, Fly Catchers and Waders. Sri Lanka enjoys visits of migratory birds from as far away as Europe and Siberia. The Minneriya National Park, to which we offer a Jeep safari, is a famous bird sanctuary close to the Heritance Kandalama. Heritance Kandalama offers its guests the option of taking an excursion of their choice for bird watching. Guided bird watching on ground is one option where the guests are taken on a tour on a selected trail guided by an expert ‘bird lover’.
