The word Heritance combines heritage and inheritance. Heritance Hotels combine all modern comforts with the warmth and sincerity of traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, set in visionary architecture that seamlessly blends with the natural environment.

Heritage is fundamental, representing both the thousands of years of cultural heritage and our experience of providing you with the finest possible service. We have a proud history of distinguished service that can be traced back 140 years through our parent company, Aitken Spence.

We have inherited the environment and the locality that we operate in. It is our solemn responsibility to preserve our inheritance and pass it on to future generations.

Each Heritance Hotel is unique, but is linked with others through a shared philosophy. Our other hotels are located in the cultural triangle (Heritance Kandalama) and along the southwest coast (Heritance Ahungalla and Heritance Ayurveda Maha Gedara).

Heritance Kandalama

Heritance Kandalama does not sit in the landscape – it is the landscape. Monkeys clamber up the pillars as if they were trees, swifts swoop along the open corridors and build nests in the corners, and wild elephants come to drink in the lake in front of the hotel. Set at the heart of the cultural triangle, with views of Sigiriya rock fortress from the infinity pool, this is a hotel you will never forget.

Heritance Ahungalla

Heritance Ahungalla shows how big beach hotels can also be beautiful. Like Heritance Kandalama and Heritance Ayurveda Maha Gedara, this hotel was designed by local architect Geoffrey Bawa. From your first glimpse of the ocean through the “see-through” lobby to dining under the stars on the beach, you will be captivated – it’s the perfect place to wind down after seeing the sights.

Heritance Ayurveda Maha Gedara

Heritance Ayurveda Maha Gedara is a specialist hotel that aims to make you feel better and more beautiful, with professional Ayurveda treatments in gorgeous, comfortable surroundings. Our packages to combat stress, promote relaxation and rejuvenation, and help weight loss require a minimum of 1-2 weeks’ stay, but we also offer shorter breaks that will give you a taste of Ayurveda.
