Horton Plains National Park, set in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, offers a unique ecosystem with rich biodiversity, including many endemic species. Elevated between 2,100 and 2,300 meters, it encompasses montane grassland and cloud forest. Key attractions include World’s End, a sheer precipice with an 870-meter drop, and Baker’s Falls. The park is the origin of three major rivers – Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe. Its history includes prehistoric settlements and is linked to folklore, adding cultural significance to its natural beauty.
